Following up from my last post, after some lunch I headed up the Brothers trail from the Interbrook Rd parking lot. It was a beautiful sunny day and I was loving just being outside. I hiked up for an hour in the forest, and soon all I could see was mountains in the distance, becoming clearer and closer with every step.
When you get curious, that’s when the magic happens. That’s when you reach past your potential with bliss and joy. When you become childlike, there are endless possibilities of what you can achieve.
Today I hiked way further than I intended because I was blissful and became curious, curious as to what’s around the corner or over the next hill. I was eager to see more, full of gratitude, joy and excitement. I hiked faster, further and for longer because I was aligned with my soul and followed my curiosity rather than letting my ego take over.
Is your ego running the show or do you feel childlike and curious. Ask yourself – why are you doing what you’re doing? Yesterday I started to hike towards Algonquin peak, why? Because it’s the second highest peak. Because I “should” climb hard and high.
Today was the most incredible day so far because I pushed myself from a place of eagerness and joy. As I became tired, hungry and ready to turn back, I was only 4 km away from the next view point. I decided I would push a little further then turn back so I wasn’t hiking in the dark. That last 4 km was a struggle. It felt longer the whole day of hiking. But I just kept taking one step at time and telling myself I’m almost there. I can do it. I’m so strong.
When I reached the view point, it was an extraordinary view of the the Great Range Mountain Peaks. I took a well-earned break and ate some food. The sun would soon be setting so I headed back down.
In comparison to my last post, pushing yourself is important for personal growth. The key is whether you are pushing yourself to reach personal goals and overcome challenges rather than pushing yourself from a negative mindset such as to be good enough or impress others.
So my question to you is, is your soul or your ego guiding you?
Peace and Love,
Kirsten
